Act Of Free Choice

It's a tribute to David Bridie's musical skills alone that he's still making records released by major record companies. In his sixteen year career he's never made 'conventional music', never made the kind of music the 'industry' could easily grab and run with. David Bridie's fans have done that of their own accord, because once you've heard that soft soulful voice gliding on some of the most memorable tunes you'll ever hear, you're won over forever. That ability to write great songs has been David's mainstay, from Not Drowning Waving through to the neo-instrumental My Friend The Chocolate Cake. In between there's been movie soundtracks, and his passion for 'indigenous' music, in particular New Guinea's. His actions and lyrics also reveal someone prepared to say what he thinks and to make a political stand. After a series of wonderfully decorative Chocolate Cake albums, David has stepped out of that string instruments environment to put everything together in one album, the musician, the activist, the spell weaver. Whatever he does, it finally always comes that man, his songs, and his sincere performance as he gently sings and plays his electric piano. (on EMI)
