The Koran, The Ghan, and a Yarn
Damnit, I'll say it: David Bridie is the most interesting songwriter in this country. And for his first solo named piece presents a song that fuses some of the strands of his art up to now. Theres the piano driven plaintiveness of Not Drowning Waving, some Choccy Cake wordplay, and hints of various ethnic influences that sit there, but thankfully never overwhelm it to become just another world music novelty piece. It sleeps into you, and is gorgeous. It's also modern enough to allow for dub and trance style remixes, which manage not to destroy the song either.
Single of this, or any other week! - Can I have the album now please?
